Busy day in May

Marina ran her 1st organized race today!! The local CAT Power Race had a 1/2 mile kids fun run. We had a couple of "training" runs before the race. She had allot of fun, most of it came in the "telling about it" phase when we got home :)

Lining Up!

Starting the 1/2 mile in style!

Coming up the hill to the finish line!

Enjoying post race refreshments!

The Garage Sale mania waiting for us when we got home. Leann had a great day turning our tash into someone elses treasures.

The kids made hay by selling refreshments to all of the exhausted garagesalers.

Precious Memories

It is times like this when we wish we could put life on hold. We took these pictures during our last trip home to Mom and Dad's......if only we could all exhibit such passion for the "little"things in life.

A VERY Happy Mother's Day

What an awesome mother's day...started out with an early morning run (Don taking care of breakfast for the kids) - then he whipped up an omlet for me - then we tag-teamed baths & Sunday clothes. The kids delivered my gifts - a new running shirt and hat, along with wonderful cards. Had meeting and then we came home and the whole gang fixed lunch while I watched and cheered them on. :) It was DELICIOUS! Thanks Don, Marina, Paige, Hudson & Cadence for making today SOOO special. I feel very appreciated.

Mushroom Hunters

Last night we had a successful mushroom hunt!! We only went out for a little bit, and just as we were about to call it quits and settle for smores back at the house - we stumbled on a patch of them. I was glad the kids got a chance to find some - hopefully stoking interest in another mushroom hunting trip. Although there is a high likely hood that the mushroom hunters will be hesitant mushroom eaters....all the more for daddy!

Congrats Leann!!

A big Congrats to Leann for finishing her 1st 1/2 Marathon. The race was well organized and really fun. The weather was cold in the morning, but pretty much perfect for running that distance. We got to finish on the 50 yard line of the University of Illinois's Memorial Stadium! Special thanks to the grandparents for helping with the kids and for Eric and Jen's hospitality!

GREAT JOB LEANN!!

Only six weeks to go.....

Yikes.....only six weeks until the big race. The mountains haven't gotten any shorter since the last trip.

Gym Class

Hudson's gym class is over for now, but it was a real rewarding experience! He was hesitant at first, but with each class he got more and more adventurous. By the last session he was doing the balance beam, trampoline, parallel bars, and many other exciting exercises!

Lets hope Cramer is right!

Off the Charts: Caterpillar (CAT)

Cramer has liked Caterpillar consistently and is still bullish, but is it because of fundamentals or the chart? a technician would note that the stock has done a reverse head and shoulders and is ready to climb up again; the ideal price is between $24 and $26. Cramer likes Caterpillar for one fundamental reason: it is done going down. The stock is not well-liked on the Street, but demand from China and a housing upturn might send the stock roaring back.

Punxsutawney Phil

Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his home and apparently saw his shadow - predicting that winter will continue for 6 more weeks. This would otherwise be bad news, however I am a numbers guy. The facts and data show that the Hog is only right 39% of the time....so I am going with statistics!!

Happy Spring!

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic

Don has officially signed up for the 2009 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic this year. Pending any family emergencies (ie: 2005, 2007), or 16 inches of snow at the finish line (ie: 2008) we will be making that journey again. I am posting this to let any family or friends know who might be interested that now is the time to sign up and make travel arangements as the race fills up pretty quick. They are offering a 25 mile "quarter horse", which would be a ride from Durango to Purgatory (No not that Purgatory......unless of course you haven't been riding latetly). This would allow someone to enter into the fun without having to climb coalbank and molas. Otherwise, if you want to ride with Don (or faster than Don), sign up for the Citizens tour. Happy Training!!
