A big Congrats to Leann for finishing her 1st 1/2 Marathon. The race was well organized and really fun. The weather was cold in the morning, but pretty much perfect for running that distance. Hudson's gym class is over for now, but it was a real rewarding experience! He was hesitant at first, but with each class he got more and more adventurous. By the last session he was doing the balance beam, trampoline, parallel bars, and many other exciting exercises!

Don has officially signed up for the 2009 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic this year. During our visit to Mom and Dad's this week, my old friend Tim Keever came over for the day on Sunday! It was amazing to catch up on old times. Mom cooked up a feast as usual and we took the opportunity to get to know his kids as well. After stuffing ourselves, Tim gave us a tour of his firehouse in Hilliard. Soon after we got the new jungle gym, Paige tried to go down the climbing wall like a slide. Much to her dismay - her coat got caught on one of the hand holds and she was STUCK. She didn't get too worked up, just sat there looking disgusted that she couldn't figure a way to undo it.

On Saturday, I rode my 1st ever cycling century, The No Baloney Bicycle Ride! Riding a century is a significant milestome for cyclists...and it sure was for me. Tuesday morning, Grandpa and Grandma Stickel and Grandma Washburn prettied up all the kids and brought them up for their 1st look at Cadence. Thanks to the grandma's there were gifts a-plenty. This is a local bike race (Criterium) that I am volunteering for. I have neither bionic skin and bones, or deep enough pockets to fix broken bikes, so I will not be racing. We have been visted by a creature from a foreign land. We have some unhealthy ash trees and we thought that it was just from the stress of the construction project (that is what nearly killed us, so why would the trees be any different). Over memorial day weekend we spotted several of these emarald colored buggers - the dreaded Emerald Ash Borer. Another gift from our Chinese Friends.

What a treat to have Grandpa take the kids fishing on Memorial Day. We have an AWESOME next door neighbor with a neat fishing pond. Marina has been begging to go, so Grandpa made it happen. We got out the famous Barbie and Scoobie fishing poles and harassed the bluegills in the pond. The bite was ON. Everyone got their share of catching fish! We made memories that day :)

What a great way to have your birthday start - with a delivery! G & G Stickel sent flowers to Marina on her birthday in August and Paige was really bummed that there weren't any for her. The Peoria Area Park District offers a mini 4 week ice skating class for beginners - ages 3-5. Marina has been asking to ice skate so we signed her up. She has had so little exposure to ice skating that we were very surprised that she was so interested. The first night was a bit bumpy and I'm not so sure that there was any forward progress made on the ice by our little 4 year old. But

We were out to the new house tonight and I retrieved my trail camera and found a couple shots of the locals on there. Nothing with antlers yet - but we are just getting started :) The cutest ones we got right after we set the camera up, of course they were the 2 legged kind. The girls were very excited to see proof of the deer living in our forest.

After going back to Mom and Dad Stickel's house last weekend, we all came home with Ohio State Gear!! Go Buckeyes!! It felt good to wear it all together and root for the bucks as a family :)
